BMW M3

I was just going through some old shots and found this one. The BMW M3 is still one of my all time favorite sports cars and I love the lights and grill on this one.

How to use Large Images on blogspot.com

I just posted about making your Blogger Blog wide enough for posting full size images on your blog but that one only worked if you were using Blogger on your own domain with the basic template. If you want to keep your blog on the blogspot.com host and modify the template here is what to do.

Step 1
Login to your Blogger account and then go to "Template", once your there you will have an option to download a backup of your template before you start. This is a good idea incase you want to revert back later.

Step 2
Find the code listed under "#header-wrapper {" and change it to 970px like you see below. This sets the overall header width.

Step 3
Find the code listed under "#header .description {" and change it to 970px like you see below. This sets a limit of the overall width of your blog to keep things clean.

Step 4
Find the code listed under "#main-wrapper {" and change it to 720px like you see below. This sets the width of your post section and will allow you to post images up to 720px wide.

Step 5
Find the code listed under "#footer {" and change it to 970px lik you see below. This sets your footer to match the rest of your new wide blog.
That's all for the template section, preview your template and then save it if your happy.

Step 6
The last thing you need to do is modify the image width in your posts. See the image below and see where you can modify the width of your images that are actually hosted on Google's Picasa. Change the width to 720 to match the "#main-wrapper {" width.

Your done. Keep blogging and post your images full size.

How to Use Large Images on Blogger

Tyler asked me how I made my Blog in wide format and I want to answer his question but first I need to give credit to Blaine for giving me the idea to do this. I had thought of this before but never got around to doing it until Blaine did it and I saw how much better it looks. Thanks Blaine.

It's actually really easy but this how to will only work if your using Blogger on your own server, FTP style. The "New Blogger" is different and uses different templates. I will see if I can work it out and will post that later.
So here it is, in all it's large images glory.

Step 1
Login to your Blogger account and go to your template page. Find the code you see in the image below listed under "#header {", this is the width of your entire blog. Change it to "width 970" like you see below.

Step 2
Find the code you see in the image below listed as "#content {", this is the width of the table that holds all the content on your blog. Change it just like you did above.

Step 3
Just below the "#content {" you will find some code that says "#main {", this is the width of your posts. Change it to "width 720" like you see below. You will need to save the images for your blog the same 720 px wide to post them. The last thing to do is test your work, hit preview and see how it looks. If you are happy with it save the template and re-publish your blog to see the changes on all your pages.

Step 4
The only other difference is that you don't use the normal images uplaod anymore. You know the one with the little mountain on it. Instead you will upload your 720 px wide images withe the one that looks like a page. See the image below.

Find the image you want to upload and hit the "UPLOAD" button.

After that you will see this screen, just hit "DONE"

And now your really done.

I hope this is helpful to you all and I will post another how to for the "New Blogger" soon.

日本の体育祭 "Japanese Sports Festival"

I just finished shooting a Sports Festival for the junior high school that I work for. Sports Festivals are pretty amazing in Japan. The kids trained for 3 weeks for the event and they ran their hearts out. I have never seen anything like this in the US, if you ever have chance to check out a Sports Day I highly recommend it.

A Japanese Taiko Drum

Over 700 Students

The students all chear and sing for their team. The team colors are Red, White, Blue, and Yellow.

The teachers also compete with the students and they get pretty into it.

They do this event that is like a chicken fight and try to get the hats off the other teams heads while fighting to keep your own.

Group jump rope anyone? They jump rope as classes with about 40 students together and see who can get jump the most. The max this day was 130 in 5 min.

And the last event of the day is a group cheer. All the students of each team do a 5 min cheer and to see who will take the glory.

Tyler in Gifu

So the last few days my buddy Tyler was in town. He worked at NORTHSTAR for about 6 weeks and then on his way back to Oregon, he decided to visit us. It was nice hanging with Tyler and we went out and shot a few times, did some swimming to beat the heat and all that fun stuff.

Hashima Student Parade

Today was the first day back at school for me and first thing this morning the vise principal asked me to shoot the student parade and the 2nd term opening ceremony. And of cores I am always happy to shoot so I said not problem. The parade is to show off the trophies that the kids won during summer break at the local competitions. The girl riding in the front of the convertible is the number one rhythmic gymnast in Japan. So that gives you an idea how serious they are about sports at this school. Anyway here are some shots.
