Early Season Backcountry
Yesterday I had an amazing day on the mountain. I got a phone call the day before from some friends who said they were going to do a day trip in the backcountry and they asked me if I wanted to go. We ended up hiking to the top of a mountain called Fujimi-dake which is 9120 ft. (2780 m.) high. Normally we would ride the lift to about 6500 ft. (2000 m.) and then hike up but the lifts don’t open for another 2 weeks so we had to hike from about 5000 ft. (1600 m.) which means we hiked over 4000 vertical feet. That was really hard. It took us a little over 5 hrs to hike up and then we got to ride some nice powder and enjoy the ride down for about an hour and a half. It was totally worth it. I can’t wait until I get to go again.
Here are a few of my favorite photos.
