Congratulations to the Ota Family

I have been in Thailand for the last four days shooting a wedding for some friends, Shingo and Saeko. First let me say that Thailand is awesome. The weather has been great and we are here about two weeks before the busy season starts so it's been pretty dead on the beaches which has been good for shooting. We stayed at the Railay Hotel & Spa which was really nice and they have pretty good deals.
We were a little worried about the demonstrations going on in Bangkok but once we got here we found out that it's really not all that big of a deal.
Here are a few shots.

My New Toy

Check out what I got in the mail today. A new timer and cable release. I saw how my friend Blaine used this to do some cool time laps shots a while back and I want to do a time laps of my child's birth next month so I had to get one. I will post some shots once I try it out. Probably not of the birth though.

Pregnant is Cute

Well I think I am a little bias to this because it's my wife who is pregnant. She is 31 weeks along now. We went out the other day after church and had a little shoot. It was fun walking around our neighborhood looking for places to shoot. We ended up finding this cool swing that you can see in the photos below.

Koichi Inakoshi - 稲越功一

Two days ago I had a really cool chance to meet a photographer named Koichi Inakoshi. He is very famous in Japan and his work has been featured in several big publications here. He came to the school I am working at to do a photo contest with the over 700 students. I will have to see if I can get a scan of the winning photo and post that later. So here are a few snaps from that day.

Nagoya Zoo

The other day I visited the Nagoya HigashiYama Zoo with some friends. It was pretty cool although I always feel bad for the animals being trapped in the little boxes having a bunch of people look at them all the time. I would hate that. The zoo was a lot bigger than I was thinking it would be for Japan.

BMW M3

I was just going through some old shots and found this one. The BMW M3 is still one of my all time favorite sports cars and I love the lights and grill on this one.

日本の体育祭 "Japanese Sports Festival"

I just finished shooting a Sports Festival for the junior high school that I work for. Sports Festivals are pretty amazing in Japan. The kids trained for 3 weeks for the event and they ran their hearts out. I have never seen anything like this in the US, if you ever have chance to check out a Sports Day I highly recommend it.

A Japanese Taiko Drum

Over 700 Students

The students all chear and sing for their team. The team colors are Red, White, Blue, and Yellow.

The teachers also compete with the students and they get pretty into it.

They do this event that is like a chicken fight and try to get the hats off the other teams heads while fighting to keep your own.

Group jump rope anyone? They jump rope as classes with about 40 students together and see who can get jump the most. The max this day was 130 in 5 min.

And the last event of the day is a group cheer. All the students of each team do a 5 min cheer and to see who will take the glory.

I am on a billboard in Australia

I was just reading my friend Blaine's Blog and found out that a photo he took of me is on a billboard in Australia. Nice work Blaine. Dang you look good Seth... Kind of funny because we were both just messing around and shooting random stuff and now Blaine is cashing in on that. Here is a shot I took of Blaine a few min before he took the photo of me. Nice hair Blaine.

This is Blaine's shot of me

And this is my shot of Blaine.

Tyler in Gifu

So the last few days my buddy Tyler was in town. He worked at NORTHSTAR for about 6 weeks and then on his way back to Oregon, he decided to visit us. It was nice hanging with Tyler and we went out and shot a few times, did some swimming to beat the heat and all that fun stuff.

An old Photo

I was just going through some old photos and cleaning our some junk and found this shot. It was shot on slide film and then cross processed and finally scanned. That's pretty old school I know but that is how it use to work.
