I have been in Thailand for the last four days shooting a wedding for some friends, Shingo and Saeko. First let me say that Thailand is awesome. The weather has been great and we are here about two weeks before the busy season starts so it's been pretty dead on the beaches which has been good for shooting. We stayed at the Railay Hotel & Spa which was really nice and they have pretty good deals.

We were a little worried about the demonstrations going on in Bangkok but once we got here we found out that it's really not all that big of a deal.

So I finally broke down and bought a digital SLR. I got a Canon 30D for a great deal used at a camera shop in Japan. Here are a few of the first shots I took today.

I went for a bike ride with some guests a few days ago and when we stopped for ice cream I saw this funny looking little thing running around the parking lot. I thought it was a cat at first and then when I got closer I realized it was a dog and was able to snap this one off.

Well it's been a really long time since I last posted and a lot has changed. I an now living in Nagano Japan about 4 hrs from where I was before. My wife and I started our new life up in the Norther Japan Alps. Yesterday we went to this cool place about an hour from here. Anyway, I am out of time for this post so here is a new shot.

I had the privilege to shoot engagement photos for my brother-in-law and his future wife tonight. We went to this cool little place called the "River Walk" on some river in downtown San Antonio. I am here for the wedding which is on Saturday but will not be shooting it so I thought it would be cool to shoot something for them. Here are a few of the better ones.

Pikes Peak

Pikes Peak is 14,110 feet tall and one of many mountains in Colorado that are over 14,000 feet. Fortunately for us there is a Cog Train that goes up Pike Peak and we didn't have to climb all the way up. Although I would like to hike up sometime but then our 4 month old would not be able to come with us.

So we put his little train conductor hat on and took the "Pikes Peak Railway" to the top.

We were told when we got on that it was 6˚F or -14˚C at the top. When we got to the top it was the same but the wind was blowing about 30 miles per hour which made the relative temperature -25˚F or -32˚C. So we didn't stay out very long but it was funny to see the group of High School kids who were in t-shirts running around trying to take photos.

Yes, our son is out there with us in the -25˚F weather.

Colorado Springs

We are staying with our friends Scott and Susan here in Colorado Springs and the first day we were here Scott came in after breakfast and said "Are you ready? We are going to a 6 mile hike". I thought he was joking and then we went for a hike and it was over 6 miles.

It was so beautiful and was the longest hike we have taken our 4 month old baby on.

We just were in Colorado and got a chance to visit an amazing place called Estes Park. If your ever in Colorado you have to see this place. It was so quiet, all I could hear was the wind in the trees and a few birds.

So I was just up at NORTHSTAR for a camp and shot some stuff in the park and at a little rail jam they had put on by SFC Japan. It was so fun to ride again and the weather was awesome. My wife I will be moving up to Norikura in about 3 weeks to start working at NORTHSTAR so you will prob see a lot more Snowboard and Mt. Bike photos pretty soon.

I thought the top photo was kinda funky with the out of focus and the punch green. I will post some more later.

Nakashima Graduation

Yesterday was the graduation at the school I am working at and of corse I shot the event. It was pretty standard as far as graduations go. Long, slow and sleepy. But I got a few cool shots.

Photowalking in Nagoya

Yesterday my wife and I had to go to the US Consulate to file some paperwork and we ended up walking around the city a little bit and doing some photowalking. We found this cool place called Oasis 21. It's near Central Park in Nagoya. So here are a few select shots from the day and the cool buildings. The Oasis 21 building was so cool because it's like 50 feet tall and has water flowing all around the middle of it and the floor is all glass.

I really liked the way the light was hitting this building and it made the building jump out of the sky.

This is a cool Ferris Wheel in down town Nagoya city.

Just wanted to wish you all a happy new year. We are doing fine here in Gifu and still waiting for baby to be born. Here is a photo of what we had for breakfast. It's called "ozoni" which is a traditionally eaten on new years day. It has pounded rice, fish cake, some vegetables, and meat. Tasty.

So it's been a while since I posted anything and I finally got some shots together to post. Tonight I went out and shot this cool high voltage power tower. The light was nice with moonlight and some ambient light from the street.

Japanese Magic

Last week I went to see a cool Japanese Magic show. They call it "tezuma" which means the hand is faster than lightning. Kind of like what we say in English, "the hand is faster than the eye". I was pretty amazed by what I saw and the style of magic has been around for hundreds of years. Here are a few photos.
